“October is the opal month of the year.
It is the month of glory, of ripeness.
It is the picture-month.”

Looking Back at September 2024

Headline: Inventory UP, Prices & Sales DOWN

The benchmark price for a property in Metro Vancouver is currently $1,179,700.

(August: $1,195,900 / July: $1,197,700 / June: $1,207,100
/ May: $1,212,000 / April: $1,205,800)

This represents a 1.4% decrease compared to August 2024

and a 1.8% decrease over September 2023.

Mortgage Rates 💰

Key interest rate now sits at 4.25%.
There are two more rate meetings this year - October 23rd and December 11th.

Side Note: I really enjoy the series “About That with Andrew Chang”. In the video below he outlines how Canada needs to keep our rate drops in lock-step with the USA and now that they have dropped a half percent in September, Canada may have to pivot in our last two BOC meetings and drop a half percent each time.

What did I do last month?

About Last Newsletter: Housing Plans Released!

Summer has come and gone again. And while I don’t look forward to it being dark at 5pm I do enjoy the influx of new shows to watch.

A lot of my old favourites have come back already:

  • Survivor - Season 47

  • Slow Horses - Season 4

  • Only Murders in the Building - Season 4

  • Below Deck Sailing Yacht - Season 5

  • Frasier - Season 2

  • Rust Valley Restorers - Season 5

…You’d think all I do is watch TV but really it’s an hour a night!

Anyways - is there anything new on the horizon?! Here’s some new ones that have peaked my interest:

The Penguin - HBO (Crave TV)

We’ve got Colin Farrell playing Oswald Cobb (apparently the Penguins original name of Cobblepot wasn’t gritty enough). There’s no Batman in it but it’s loosely based off the Matt Reeves movie Batman. Comparisons have been made to the Sopranos - have to see about that.

English Teacher - FX (Disney Plus)

I tried watching Abbot Elementary awhile back but it didn’t grab me. So going into another comedy about teachers has me a bit apprehensive. I know nothing of creator / lead actor Brian Jordan Alvarez. I watched the first episode and the soundtrack was amazing. I’ll give it another go.

How to Die Alone - Hulu (Disney+)

While we have to wait till next year for a new season of White Lotus this might tide things over. Watched the first episode - but that usually just sets up the premise. Soundtrack was excellent too!
